5/25/2023 0 Comments Forces on curved survaces![]() ![]() I have been practising a lot of problems lately and this is one of them:įor the pressure diagram I did, this because pressure vary linearly. For a spherical drop, no simple ensemble exists to keep the area constant i.e., an ensemble that would be constrained by a measurable external force. If the liquid is at rest then there is no tangential force, and hence the total pressure will act perpendicular to the surface with contact. Although I understand the general method is to use sum of forces in the x/y direction (ie by considering the liquid weight above and so on) and find resultant force that way. Hydrostatic force refers to the total pressure acting on the layer or surface which is in touch with the liquid or water at rest. determine at what dept under the water surface a horizontal line can be drawn on the plate such that the hydrostatic forces on either side of the line is equal. I am particularly confused about finding pressure forces (specifically vertical force) on a curve surface.
